In 1934, Jacob L. Babler and his brother Henry donated 88 acres of land in memory of their brother, Dr. Edmund A. Babler, a respected St. Louis surgeon. That gift would become the foundation of a state park that continues to welcome generations of hikers, campers, and nature lovers.
